Gabriel Grunfeld’s expertise in the entertainment industry is culled from over twenty years of experience as a writer, director, producer, agent, manager and executive. Grunfeld has long-standing relationships with major writers, comic book and comic strip creators, authors, publishers and their representatives. Utilizing those close ties, he has optioned, developed and set-up major properties such as best-sellers “Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus” by John Gray, “By the Rivers of Babylon” by Nelson DeMille, “Speak Softly” and “The Big Stick” by Lawrence Alexander, “Captain Nemo” by Kevin Anderson, the Angel series of books by Karen Goldman (“The Angel Book,” “Angel Encounters” and “Angel Voices”), as well as the widely syndicated comic strip “Baby Blues”, etc.

A partnership with Edgar J. Scherick Associates (a major producer of television and cable movies). Grunfeld also served as President of Production. The company developed projects for Studios (Paramount, Fox, etc.) and Television (Showtime, HBO). *

As a writer/producer, Mr. Grunfeld developed such projects as:
"Who Wants to Be A Supehero": Co-Executive Producer for SciFi Channel.
“Intimacy”: A pilot by John Sayles for Warner Brothers and ABC TV. Executive producer, supervising writer.
“Keystone Kops”: CBS pilot script. Co-executive producer/creator.
“Twirl”: Movie for NBC. Producer.
“Teddy Roosevelt Mysteries”: Television movie/pilot script for A&E Network. Writer/producer.
“Into The Heart: The Ken Good Story”: Producer for Showtime.
III. Features
In features, he co-developed and was attached as producer to “Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus” (based on the mega-selling book) with Laura Ziskin at Fox 2000. Produced “The Only Thrill” (with Diane Keaton, Sam Shepard and Diane Lane). Co-produced the independent film “Warriors,” as well as a number of European co-productions. He was a producer (with Scott Rudin) on “The Stepford Wives” for Paramount (starring Nicole Kidman, Glenn Close, Matthew Broderick, etc.). Currently, he is packaging the remake of the classic Warner Brothers movie “Auntie Mame.”
In feature animation (CGI), he is an Executive Producer of "Big Bug Man," with voice over performances by Brendan Fraser and Marlon Brando.
IV. Theatre
In theatre, Gabriel Grunfeld was playwright/director in residence at The Julian Theatre in San Francisco (where his play “Gandhi” which he wrote, directed and produced, was the recipient of numerous awards, including the National Endowment for the Arts Award), worked with the Committee Theatre in San Francisco, The Players Theatre in Dublin, and The Royal Court Theatre in London. He produced “Neverland,” the musical, and is currently working with The Odyssey Theatre in Los Angeles.
V. Unscripted Television
In association with POW! Entertainment and his friend and colleague Stan Lee (LINK TO IMDB), Grunfeld is Co-Executive Producer of the reality show “Who Wants to Be a Superhero?” for the Sci-Fi Channel. The show is entering its third season. Five other unscripted series are in various stages of development and production.
VI. Academic/Guild Positions
For four years, Grunfeld was chairman of the Writers Guild of America's Academic Liaison Committee. In this position, he was in charge of communicating and arranging for academic exchange with writing programs, film schools and universities in the U.S. and around the world. He also organized and moderated numerous film and television seminars at universities such as UCLA and USC.]
